Q:Hello - can I purchase the electric start with battery kit for the APWC420 Woodchipper? It appears to be an add-on option, so I'm hopping you will sell it separately. I love the Woodchipper but need an easier method to start it. Would really appreciate it. Thank you,
Q:I purchased one of your chippers a year ago has worked great. Yesterday the starter switch quit working I believe meaning you turn the key and nothing happens. I can pull started but it’s 70 years old. I can’t do it much. I need a starter switch.
Q:What is the length without the tow bar attached because I have limited storage space?
Also I live in California and I saw at one time there was a carb upgrade to make it legal in CA. But now I just see that it says not for sale in CA?
One last question what is a JD engine is that just a brand name? Thanks for your help.
Q:I purchased one of these things and it won't start, no spark. Pull the rope a half of day. What is wrong with this thing or should I take it back to LOWES.

Q:Looking at #APW420 Is this model self feeding? Is JD Deere?

A: The wood chipper is considered "self-feeding" as you simply place the wood branches into the vertical intake chute and the woodchipper will automatically pull in branches and other wood debris without requiring the user to manually feed them into the blades or perform manual labor to crank a handle or turn a wheel. The operator can then focus on the pace of feeding material into a vertical feed chute which is angled downward at a steep angle, which allows gravity to help pull in the wood. As the wood lowers down the chute, it comes into contact with a set of sharp blades that chop it into small pieces. These pieces are then expelled out of the machine through a discharge chute. Self-feeding wood chippers are commonly used by homeowners and landscapers to quickly and efficiently dispose of yard waste.

Q:Another bout of questions. Does this have a belt or direct drive? Is there a flywheel?
Asked by: Dick & Kathy Ethier
- 5/21/2023
A: The woodchipper offers a dual-drive engine with a twin V-belt transmission structure. This type of engine has two separate drive systems, each with its own V-belt and transmission. This design allows for increased power and torque. The dual-drive system also provides redundancy in case one of the drive systems fails. The V-belt transmission structure is a common method of transferring power from the engine to other components, in this case the woodchipper. The V-belts provide a reliable and efficient method of power transfer, while the transmission allows for the adjustment of torque and speed to meet specific requirements for power optimization.

A: This woodchipper weighs 415 lbs! I know it is a heavy beast! That is why it comes with wheels and a tow bar to help make it easy to move around the job site. We appreciate you taking the time to leave a question.
